What Is Our Minds Matter Program?
Minds Matter is our monthly 4-hour community respite gathering held in Indian Land, SC, hosted at our satellite location inside Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Designed to give family caregivers a reliable, dedicated break, our program provides a welcoming space where participants enjoy a uplifting morning of social connection. Each 4-hour session features gentle movement, creative arts and crafts, music, light cognitive activities, and a shared brain-healthy lunch.
Benefits of Minds Matter
Exercise
Physical activity is essential to the brain and overall health. It helps maintain blood flow and may stimulate brain cell growth. Our activities at Minds Matter in Lancaster include fun exercises that promote strength, balance and fall prevention. We might do chair exercises, dance, yoga, walking or even chair volleyball.
Music and Art Therapy
Music and art help provide calming and are outlets for expression. Our daily programs are taught by Dementia trained professionals to enhance brain stimulation with positive outcomes.
Brain Healthy Meal
Brain healthy meals help provide your loved ones with nutrient-rich foods that support cognitive function. These meals typically include leafy greens, berries, beans, lean protein, whole grains, and olive oil. A brain healthy meal will be provided daily.
Cognitive Activities
Cognitive stimulation can help reduce decline or produce short-term improvements in mental function. Our person-centered daily routines incorporate Cognitive Stimulating Programming that use technology and help create a sense of purpose while preserving dignity.
